Our mission is to address the complex, interconnected challenges of sustainability by integrating knowledge from the environmental sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, economics, and the arts.
JISS champions truly interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scholarship, prioritizing studies that co-create knowledge with stakeholders and offer actionable solutions for a just and resilient future. We publish rigorous theoretical, empirical, methodological, and policy-oriented work that critically examines the dynamics of social-ecological systems and pathways to global sustainability.
