Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

To ensure consistency and streamline the publication process, all submissions must adhere to the following formatting standards. For detailed examples and bibliographic standards, please refer to our full Submission Guide.

Manuscript Formatting Rules

1. Article Title

  • Font: Times New Roman

  • Size: 16 pt

  • Line Spacing: Fixed, 20 pt

  • Paragraph Spacing: Above Paragraph – 10 pt, Below Paragraph – 10 pt

2. Main Text
Apply to the entire manuscript, including abstract, keywords, headings, and references:

  • Font: Times New Roman

  • Size: 10 pt

  • Paragraph Spacing:

    • Above Paragraph – 0 pt

    • Below Paragraph – 4 pt

  • Line Spacing: Fixed, 12 pt

3. Headings

  • Heading 1 (e.g., 1. First-level Heading):

    • Times New Roman, 10 pt, Bold

  • Heading 2 (e.g., 1.1 Second-level Heading):

    • Times New Roman, 10 pt, Italic

  • Heading 3 (e.g., 1.1.1 Third-level Heading):

    • Times New Roman, 10 pt, Regular

4. References

  • Follow the journal’s recommended citation style (e.g., APA, MLA, or Chicago).

  • Include DOI links for all applicable references.

  • Format references with the same text rules (10 pt Times New Roman, fixed 12 pt line spacing).

Additional Notes

  • Submissions not complying with these guidelines may be returned for reformatting.

  • For bibliographic examples and uncommon formatting cases, consult the Submission Guide.

  • Use the journal’s Microsoft Word Template-Paper to simplify formatting.

By submitting your manuscript to Educational Research and Development, you agree to the following terms regarding copyright and publishing rights:

  1. Authorship Retention:
    Authors retain copyright to their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. The work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which allows others to share and adapt the work with proper attribution.

  2. License Terms:
    Upon acceptance, the author(s) will be required to sign a formal licensing agreement confirming:

    • The manuscript is original and does not infringe upon any third-party rights.

    • All authors have approved the submission and agree to the terms of this notice.

    • The work has not been previously published nor is under consideration elsewhere.

  3. Permissions and Reuse:
    Authors are permitted to:

    • Share the published article for non-commercial purposes (e.g., institutional repositories, academic networks).

    • Reuse parts of the work in future publications with proper citation.

    • Retain ownership of all intellectual property rights.

  4. Journal Rights:
    The journal holds the exclusive right to:

    • Publish, distribute, and archive the work in all formats and media.

    • Manage permissions for third-party reuse requests (e.g., translations, adaptations).

  5. Attribution:
    Any reuse of the published work must include full citation of the original publication in Educational Research and Development.

  6. Warranty:
    Authors warrant that the manuscript complies with ethical standards and does not contain defamatory or unlawful content.

  • Executing the Publishing Process: For the entire manuscript handling process, including editorial assessment, peer review, editorial production, publication, archiving, and indexing.

  • Communication: To communicate with you regarding your submissions, review tasks, subscriptions, or inquiries you initiate.

  • Service Improvement: To analyze anonymized usage data to improve our website platform and user experience.

  • Academic Dissemination: When an article is published, your name, affiliation, and contact information (e.g., email) will be publicly displayed alongside your article to acknowledge your contribution and facilitate academic exchange.

  • Legal Obligations: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, or respond to valid legal processes.

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We take your privacy seriously and will never sell your personal data for marketing purposes. We only share your information under the following necessary circumstances:

  • Necessary Academic Participants: To complete the review and editorial process, your manuscript information and necessary personal identifiable information (e.g., name, institution) may be shared with editorial board members, invited reviewers, and potential journal partners (e.g., copy editors, proofreaders). We require all parties to keep your manuscript information confidential.

  • Public Information: Once an article is accepted for publication, your name, affiliation, contact information (e.g., email), and the article content will be permanently made public.

  • Service Providers: We may use third-party service providers (e.g., hosting services, technical support) bound by contracts to access your data solely for the purpose of providing services to us.

  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, and safety of our platform.
